Philosophy

Hello, my name is Terri-Ann Gillings and I have over 18 years of experience in the Early Education and Care industry. Working with children is very important to me, and having a good and valid philosophy is necessary for developing children. My philosophy is one that meets the needs of all the children in T.A.G Family Day care. I believe that children learn best when they are taught under certain conditions such as in a friendly environment where they can learn, explore, and express themselves. I believe that each child is an individual and each child learns differently. I always observe to see what level children are at and do my best to work along with them. I believe children with disabilities should be treated equally in my program and be respected and be provided with the same learning opportunities. In General, our philosophy is to put children’s needs first. Our curriculum strategically focuses on children’s individual ability to learn and develop successfully. The early childhood years are the most important and critical years in a child’s life. Our program fosters those years by focusing on learning and developing through play, developing individual skills, nutrition and health. I started this business to be a foundation in the community and lay a foundation for the future. We believe that developing a respectful, caring bond with children and their families is a vital foundation for a wonderful relationship between team and parents. We believe in our philosophy because it stands for safety, trust, love, care and success. We respect all children in our care and also their culture, languages, and their different ethnicities. We never judge a child for whatever reasons. It may be because we believe that all children are equally unique.

Mission Statement

T.A.G family Day Care Program’s prime concern is the safety, well being and

healthy development of young children. In our stimulating learning

environment, our teachers are devoted to excellence. Our teachers make it

their duty to meet the individual needs of each family in our program.

At T.A.G Family Day Care Program, we are committed to providing services

and support to parents and their children from their first day of care to the

last. We are invested in assisting parents and their children by connecting

them to the community through resources.

Our mission is one of tolerance and inclusion. We aim to provide a curriculum

that is culturally sensitive to all groups of children. We introduce children to a

wide range of books and materials which promote diversity.
